Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone!
Anyone have any big plans? It’s not really a holiday here, so my day is going to be filled with research, cleaning, sending out cover letters and all that sort of fun stuff 😉
Someone just rang my doorbell (which I am very excited to have after not having one for 6 months!) and it was the flower delivery man- my mom sent me flowers for my new apartment! Thanks, Mom! They made my day 🙂
I have some good news! I found a new apartment and will be moving in two weeks 🙂 Everything happened so fast- we saw the new apartment last Sunday, were told we could have it on Monday, then signed the lease and received the keys on Friday. I’m beyond excited. I will have internet at home starting in about a month, and I even have a real kitchen, with four burners and a real oven- ohhh the luxury 😉
Don’t mind the iPhone picture…
How’s everyone doing? It’s our last week of classes over here, so we’re all looking for anything to distract us from our upcoming exams 🙂 Enter muffins and cupcakes.
I’m going to be honest, the cupcakes were not my favorite, so we’ll start with those. They are fun and pretty, afterall. And if you actually follow the recipe, they will be much better (more on that later).
Sorry I’ve been slacking a bit with updates. December has been a really busy month, so I thought I’d share some highlights with you.
First was my birthday- here was my spread:
Earlier in the year, we figured out that two of my friends had back to back birthdays, so it was obviously the perfect occasion to throw a big party 🙂 A bunch of people in my program are commuters and don’t go out with us on the weekends, but who can say no to two birthdays? It was fun to have everyone there for a change.
It was also the perfect occasion to try out some new recipes. I love baking, but I love sharing my baked goods even more. During class the other day, I was skimming through some blogs and found the perfect inspiration. One of my friends absolutely loves bounty bars (similar to mounds), and I just so happened to stumble upon a recipe for Bounty Cupcakes.
I’ve decided to start a blog. Again. This time I promise to write more than two entries though 🙂 Last time I started before I had discovered the amazingness that is food blogs and found it hard to find time to find the time to ramble on about my life in Paris (although I assure you it was blog-worthy).
Now it’s different. I’ve discovered a love of cooking and baking and figured this would be the perfect way to combine that with my love of writing and Deutschland. Unfortunately, I only have a two-burner stove and a toaster oven, but I make do. My very lucky poor fellow students can attest to that 😉 Of course, I’m not in Germany to bake in a toaster oven and cook on a two-burner stove, so I’ll also use this blog as a way to update everyone (well anyone who feels like being updated) on other things (like school!). This post might be a bit long because it’s my first, not sure what the future will bring. I’ll do my best to update though. I already have a recipe I want to try out for a friend’s birthday (well 2 actually), so keep an eye out for that.
