The Wait is Over


A little while ago, I mentioned I was impatiently waiting for some vanilla extract. Well, I’m happy to announce it has arrived! Or better said, it’s ready. After reading that vanilla extract is very easy to make and much cheaper than importing it, I knew I had to try it out myself. And well, it turns out, it’s true 🙂

The only real vanilla extract I’ve found in Germany was around 11 Euro for a very small bottle, which is just insane. I bought two vanilla beans for 3Euro and a bottle of vodka for 5Euro. I only used about 1/3 of the bottle, so, I made about 1c of vanilla extract for less than 5Euro- not too shabby. Also, I’ve read that I can continue to use these same vanilla beans over and over, so that’s next on my list to try.

Nutella Cookies

Hi Everyone,

Today is our last day of classes! Now the studying really has to start… A few of my friends and I were talking about chocolate and studying and how they just seem to fit together- almost to the point of necessity. You know, get your pens, your notecards, your water, your caffeine, your chocolate- sounds about right 😉

Yesterday in the grocery store, I was craving chocolate but was also completely indecisive in the snack isle- I wasn’t in the mood for anything. I finally saw some chocolate covered hazelnuts but was turned off by all of the preservatives and large package (I know that I’d probably eat the whole thing, especially while studying, and that just didn’t need to happen).
